Shamim Shakur received his PhD in economics from Boston College, USA in 1989. Before joining Massey University in 1994, he held Assistant Professor positions at Brock University and the University of Saskatchewan in Canada. Shamim has been on short-term assignments in Bangladesh (Brock University and North South University), Japan (Tokyo-Keizei University), Indonesia (Jakarta Institute of Management Studies), and Thailand (Mekong Institute).
Shamim’s research interests are focused on the areas of international and financial economics. Shamim is on the editorial board of Review of Applied Economics, and has acted as a referee for numerous international economics journals. His publications in refereed journals include Pacific Basin Finance Journal, Australian Journal of Agricultural & Resource Economics, Journal of Developing Areas, Journal of Policy Modeling, Economics Bulletin, New Zealand Economic Papers, Applied Financial Economics and International Trade Journal.
